EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WJAR) — A serious incident unfolded in East Greenwich on Thursday afternoon as a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main and Division Streets, leading to major street closures. Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud thud and initially noticed a truck that had stopped, only to discover a woman lying on the road, unconscious but breathing.

As the situation developed, the driver of the vehicle, reportedly accompanied by his young son, remained at the scene. Good Samaritans quickly responded, calling 911 and directing traffic to ensure safety before first responders arrived.

Paramedics transported the injured woman to the hospital, while local police temporarily closed off the area for more than an hour to conduct an accident reconstruction.
