Two Individuals Charged After Children Discovered in Car in Lincoln, RI – NBC Boston

Press Release: Parents Arrested for Child Neglect at Rhode Island Casino

Two Providence residents, Brenda Gonzalez, 45, and Wilfredo Urbina Delgado, 41, have been arrested on charges of felony cruelty and neglect after allegedly leaving their two children, aged 7 and 11, unattended in a vehicle while they gambled for hours at Bally’s Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

Police report that the children were left alone in the parked car while their parents engaged in gambling activities inside the casino. Authorities from the Department of Children, Youth, and Families intervened, ensuring the children’s immediate care by placing them with a family member.

Gonzalez has since been released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bail, while Delgado remains in custody due to a violation of bail in a separate case.

Lincoln police emphasized their ongoing commitment to addressing child neglect incidents related to Bally’s Casino, stating, “This behavior is both dangerous and unacceptable.” They express intent to hold accountable anyone who jeopardizes child safety.

In light of this incident, resources for those struggling with gambling addiction are available, including a hotline at 1-800-522-4700 and support forums at www.gamtalk.org.
