Dartmouth Head-On Collision Claims Lives of Westport Couple
DARTMOUTH, MASS. (WJAR) — Authorities in Bristol County are investigating a tragic head-on collision that resulted in the deaths of a couple from Westport. The crash occurred around 10:30 AM on Sunday at 422 Old Westport Road in Dartmouth. According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, a gray Toyota RAV4 driven by 63-year-old Philip Morris of Dartmouth collided with a green Toyota Echo, operated by 76-year-old Jeffrey Moniz, who was accompanied by his wife, Diane Moniz, also 76 years old.
Investigators reported that Morris’s vehicle crossed the double yellow line, leading to the head-on crash with the Moniz couple’s car. Emergency services transported the Monizes to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead due to traumatic injuries. Morris suffered minor injuries and is now facing serious charges, including two counts of Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation and a Marked Lanes Violation.
The Massachusetts State Police Detectives, along with the Dartmouth Police Department, are actively investigating the incident, aiming to gather more details surrounding the circumstances of this devastating accident.
