The Museum of Newport Irish History Interpretive Center welcomes visitors for the 2025 season, operating Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM until the last Sunday in October. The Center offers insights into Irish immigration to Newport County from the colonial era to today, highlighting the significant contributions of the Irish community.
This year unveils a new interactive digital display, allowing guests to explore Newport’s Irish immigrant narratives through historic photographs and previously unseen images, enriching the visitor experience.
Located on Thames Street, the Center provides free street parking; admission is complimentary for members and by donation for others. Private visits can be arranged with advance notice via email at NewportIrishHistory@gmail.com.
Founded in 1996, this nonprofit organization, which boasts over 900 members, not only operates the Interpretive Center but also organizes educational and cultural events throughout the year, including the renowned Annual Lecture Series. Additionally, the organization maintains the historic Barney Street Cemetery, the final resting place of Newport’s early Irish residents, established to support Rhode Island’s first Roman Catholic parish.
