Former Bishop Hendricken Teacher Alleges School Covered Up Sexual Solicitation Incidents

Scandal Unfolds at Bishop Hendricken High School Amid Racism Claims

A trial in Kent County Superior Court is unfolding, revealing troubling allegations of racism and misconduct at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. The controversy began when former teacher Matthew Marsocci exposed then-principal Joseph Brennan through secretly recorded videos, revealing racist and antisemitic language. Marsocci, who claims he was wrongfully terminated in 2017, has filed a whistle-blower lawsuit against the school and its administrators, alleging defamation and obstruction of his future employment opportunities.

Testimony has emerged of inappropriate behavior by a teacher responding to Craigslist ads seeking sexual encounters with younger men. Marsocci claims he discovered explicit emails on a school computer shared with students, prompting him to inform Brennan and the school’s chaplain in 2014. He later created a website dubbed “Hawk Outsider” to document the teacher’s alleged misconduct and administration cover-ups.

Brennan, in defense of his actions, testified that he investigated the claims and found no evidence of student endangerment. The school administration reportedly dismissed Marsocci’s concerns, characterizing him as a disgruntled employee undermining the institution’s reputation. Tensions escalated when the "Hawk Outsider" website was discovered, leading to Marsocci’s dismissal and heightened scrutiny of the school’s internal handling of complaints.

In a shocking twist, Brennan resigned in 2018 after a video surfaced showing him using slurs, which he attributed to a conversation with Marsocci. Brennan now asserts the video’s release ruined his career, while the teacher implicated in the initial allegations remains employed at the school.

As the trial continues, the implications of these revelations challenge the trust and safety within the Catholic educational system in Rhode Island.
