Country singer Conner Smith was involved in a tragic car accident in Nashville on Sunday night, resulting in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. CT while Smith was driving his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on 3rd Avenue North. Dobbins was crossing the street in a designated crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle. Though she was promptly taken to a hospital, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Smith’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson, confirmed the incident and expressed the singer’s condolences to Dobbins’ family during this difficult time. Robinson stated that Mr. Smith is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation related to the accident. Preliminary findings from the police suggest that Smith failed to yield the right of way to Dobbins; however, they noted that he did not exhibit any signs of impairment at the time of the accident. As of now, no charges have been filed against him.
Conner Smith, 24, is a Nashville native and was signed to Big Machine Records’ Valory label. He gained recognition with his debut studio album “Smoky Mountains,” released last year.
