VivaTech 2023: Europe’s Premier Tech Event Unveils AI Innovations in Healthcare
Paris—VivaTech, Europe’s leading tech and startup event, commenced on Wednesday, attracting an anticipated 165,000 visitors and showcasing nearly 14,000 startups from over 50 countries. This ninth edition promises to be the largest yet, with artificial intelligence (AI) taking center stage, especially in healthcare and mental well-being applications.
François Bitouzet, Director General of VivaTech, emphasized the transformation of AI from science fiction to practical applications, stating, “Visitors will discover what it means for business, daily life, and democracy.” He noted the relevance of technology in the current geopolitical environment, which will be explored over the next four days.
Innovative startups are making significant strides in addressing mental health challenges. One standout, French startup Emobot, offers an AI-driven tool that monitors mood disorders by analyzing facial expressions and voice patterns. Co-founder Antony Perzo explained that the app tracks users’ emotional states throughout the day, creating a comprehensive dashboard for doctors to observe symptom evolution—a breakthrough in visualizing mental health disorders.
Another noteworthy project, AMOI, combines neuroscience and fragrance to enhance emotional well-being. Founder Pascale Fontaine claimed that their neuro-fragrances can positively influence moods in under five minutes, providing a novel approach to accessible mental health tools.
As discussions around AI innovation and technological sovereignty grow amid global tensions, VivaTech serves as a vital platform for exploring the intersection of technology and human challenges. The event will run until June 14 at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center, spotlighting the promising future of AI in driving societal progress.
