Barrington High School Celebrates Remarkable Tennis Achievements Amid Graduation Season

As graduation season wraps up, stories of success from the Class of 2025 emerge, shining a spotlight on Barrington High School’s remarkable tennis achievements. The school’s boys tennis team recently capped off an impressive second consecutive undefeated season, clinching the state championship with a 4-2 victory over East Greenwich on June 1. Senior Luke Sapolsky, playing No. 1 singles, set a commanding tone with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory, marking a fitting end to his standout high school career.

Luke, a quiet leader and a four-time All-State contender, will continue his education and tennis career at Baruch College in New York City. His family has a legacy in tennis at Barrington; including his brothers Scott and Mark, and father Steve, who laid the foundations of the family’s tennis legacy. Remarkably, all three brothers have represented their school in championship matches, showcasing their prowess on the court.

A notable mention from the state singles tournament is Joe Cavanagh, also a senior, who advanced to the finals after defeating Sapolsky in a semifinal upset. Joe’s journey began humbly, evolving through the ranks at La Salle Academy. He will head to Georgetown University this fall.

Meanwhile, Patrick Cavanagh, Joe’s cousin and a senior at Bishop Hendricken, found success in tennis after a theater-dominated childhood. His journey culminated in a strong showing at the state doubles tournament.

Adding to the accolades is Sophia Clyne from Moses Brown, who demonstrated exceptional leadership as captain of the state championship-winning field hockey team. She leaves behind a legacy of motivation and community engagement, preparing for a bright future at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

These stories of athleticism, leadership, and legacy encapsulate the spirit of graduation for the Class of 2025 as they move toward new horizons.
