Breaking News: Trump Announces Air Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites as Conflict Enters Second Week

President Trump Confirms B-2 Bombers Strike Iranian Nuclear Facilities

In a significant military operation, President Donald Trump announced that the US Air Force’s B-2 Spirit bombers targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities. The B-2, revered for its advanced flying wing design and stealth capabilities, is equipped to deliver devastating firepower with precision.

With a remarkable payload capacity of 40,000 pounds—allowing for both nuclear and conventional armaments—the B-2 can strike anywhere globally, aided by aerial refueling. This top-tier bomber, which first took flight in 1989, has a storied history, initially debuting in combat during NATO’s 1999 Operation Allied Force. Notably, it played critical roles in missions over Afghanistan as well and most recently targeted Houthi positions from a joint US-British base in the Indian Ocean.

There are only 20 B-2 aircraft in the US inventory, all stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Each bomber carries an estimated price tag of $2 billion. The recent operation also saw the use of the GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a formidable "bunker buster" bomb weighing 30,000 pounds. Designed specifically to penetrate fortified enemy structures, the MOP can effectively neutralize threats posed by weapons of mass destruction.

This latest military engagement highlights the US’s commitment to addressing national security concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The employment of the B-2 bombers underscores the advanced capabilities of the US military and its preparedness to act decisively in global conflicts.
