Iran Condemns U.S. Attacks on Nuclear Sites, Promises Retaliation
TEHRAN – Following recent U.S. strikes on its nuclear facilities, Iran has responded vehemently, condemning what it describes as "blatant U.S. aggression." Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s envoy to the United Nations, denounced the U.S. claims against Iran as "unfounded, with no legal basis and politically motivated."
A senior Iranian source revealed to Reuters that most of the highly enriched uranium stored at the Fordow nuclear plant had been relocated prior to the U.S. attacks, indicating a potential strategic maneuver by Tehran. In this climate of escalating tensions, Iranian military officials issued stark warnings to the U.S. General Hatami threatened a "decisive response," while armed forces spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari warned of "heavy" consequences for the U.S., calling out former President Trump directly, asserting, "you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it."
In a chilling prelude to the strikes, sources indicated that Iran had sent a warning to Trump via an intermediary at the G7, threatening to unleash sleeper-cell attacks on U.S. soil should the attacks proceed.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, commented on the situation in a statement on X, asserting that the "Zionist enemy" has made a "grave mistake" and will be held accountable.
Amid these tensions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, with both nations recently solidifying a strategic partnership in January. As Iran braces for further developments, global observers remain watchful of how this conflict unfolds in the coming days.
