MOBILion’s Advanced Proteomics Platform Optimizes Analysis

MOBILion Systems Unveils Groundbreaking Proteomics Technologies at ASMS 2025

Baltimore—MOBILion Systems, Inc. made a significant impact at the 2025 American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) conference by showcasing its innovative MOBIE® platform and introducing its next-generation proteomics system, BILLIE™. With an emphasis on advancing mass spectrometry, MOBILion’s technologies promise to revolutionize analyses across various sectors.

At the forefront is the Parallel Accumulation Mobility Aligned Fragmentation (PAMAF) feature, which enhances speed, sensitivity, and selectivity for liquid chromatography–high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS)-based proteomics. CEO Melissa Sherman, PhD, elaborated on how the exclusive SLIM (Structures for Lossless Ion Manipulation) technology forms the foundation for their advancements, replacing traditional liquid chromatography techniques with a more universal, digital separation approach.

Dr. Daniel DeBord, CTO of MOBILion, explained the revolutionary nature of BILLIE, which separates ions based on their collision cross-section without discarding valuable data—an improvement over traditional quadrupole-based systems that waste up to 95% of ions. Instead of filtering, BILLIE allows for continuous ion separation, thus enhancing sensitivity and specificity in protein identification.

VP of Product Development Gregory Webster highlighted the capacity of BILLIE to provide rapid, full proteome coverage—identifying up to 10,000 proteins faster than existing systems. The platform’s high-throughput nature also facilitates deeper investigations into protein variations, offering crucial insights into biological functions.

MOBILion’s commitment to user feedback, articulated by SVP Frederick Strathmann, ensures that technological developments are aligned with evolving market demands. The company aims to empower researchers with state-of-the-art tools, addressing the need for faster, more accurate, and sensitive mass spectrometry solutions.

With BILLIE, MOBILion Systems is set to enhance the proteomics field, promising a future where researchers can explore complex biological questions with unprecedented speed and precision.
