Harris agrees to participate in second debate in October

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has accepted an invitation to participate in a second debate with former President Donald Trump, which would be hosted by CNN on Oct. 23. The campaign chair stated that the American people deserve another opportunity to see the candidates debate before casting their ballots, highlighting that Trump should have no problem agreeing to the debate since it follows the same format as one he attended in June and praised. Trump has indicated that he does not believe another debate is necessary and has stated that there will be no third debate. However, Harris has expressed interest in participating in another debate and is pushing for it. The potential debate would occur less than two weeks before Election Day and during early voting in multiple states. The Harris campaign’s willingness to participate in a second debate comes after the first debate between the two major-party nominees on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC. The decision to move forward with another debate will provide voters with additional insights into the candidates’ policies and visions for the country before the election.
