Israel is facing mounting accusations of targeting journalists in Gaza, with at least 128 journalists killed during Israel’s offensive in the enclave. The Israel Defense Forces named six journalists working with Al Jazeera as Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists, which the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) called unproven. In Gaza, Israeli strikes in Khan Younis killed 38 people and injured dozens, with Israeli forces storming a hospital in Beit Lahia where patients and displaced Palestinians were seeking shelter. The World Health Organization Director-General expressed concern over the situation at the hospital, which was overflowing with patients, caregivers, and people seeking shelter. Israel’s COGAT facilitated the transfer of patients and supplies to the hospital but did not comment on the reported raid. In northern Gaza, more than 600 people have been killed in the offensive, with the IDF targeting Hamas militants in schools and refugee camps. US Secretary of State Blinken met with Jordan’s foreign minister, who criticized Israel’s actions as “ethnic cleansing” and suggested that the Israeli government was not listening to international concerns. The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to raise concerns about the humanitarian crisis in the region.
