The University of Richmond women’s soccer team suffered a tough 6-0 loss against Rhode Island, dropping their record to 3-6-2 on the season. The Rams improved to 5-5-2 with the win. Rhode Island got off to a quick start, scoring in the 11th minute and adding three more goals before halftime, including an own goal. They continued their offensive pressure in the second half, scoring two more goals to secure the 6-0 victory.
Despite the loss, several Richmond players had opportunities to score, with five different players posting shots throughout the match. Goalkeeper McKenna Dalfonso made eight saves, while Grace Ferrara played the full 90 minutes. The team as a whole had 11 shots, with eight on target and two corner kicks.
Next up, the Spiders will look to bounce back as they face Loyola Chicago on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the Mental Health Awareness Game. The team will aim to regroup and put up a stronger performance in their upcoming match. Despite the loss to Rhode Island, the Spiders remain focused on improving and competing at a high level in the conference.
