Ryan Belmore, owner and publisher of the award-winning news site What’sUpNewp, has been a key player in Rhode Island’s local media landscape since the site’s inception in 2012. Under his stewardship, What’sUpNewp has received accolades including being voted Best Local News Blog by Rhode Island Monthly readers for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020, along with several grants from national journalism organizations.
A Rhode Island native, Belmore has dedicated over a decade to Newport, contributing to community and cultural initiatives. In 2021, he relocated to Alexandria, Virginia, to support his wife’s career while maintaining his commitment to Newport by visiting monthly.
