Free Blues Concert Featuring The Undaunted Professor Harp
Join us for an electrifying free concert showcasing The Undaunted Professor Harp and his 4-Piece Blues Band, renowned for their soulful blues performances. Hugh Holmes, known as The Undaunted Professor Harp®, has been a dynamic presence in Boston’s music scene for decades and is set to be inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame in 2025.
Professor Harp, whose birthday roots trace back to Boston, channels the rich sounds of Texas and the Delta in his harmonica playing. Originally a rock drummer, he shifted to the blues harmonica in 1969 after being inspired by a live performance from blues legend George Allen ‘Harmonica’ Smith. His music reflects a passion for ‘roots music,’ defined by whatever moves and excites him.
With a storied career, Professor Harp has shared the stage with luminaries such as Solomon Burke and Luther ‘Guitar Jr.’ Johnson and even performed on NBC’s Today Show. His most cherished memories include jamming spontaneously with the legendary Muddy Waters. Don’t miss this chance to experience the authentic blues—a night sure to resonate with music lovers.
